Health Workfore New Zealand Training Intentions

Each year Health Workforce New Zealand (HWNZ) helps fund part of the training of medical workforce in District Health Boards.

For the year 2011, HWNZ intents to fund a total of 5,935 training places or training-related courses in various health specialities. By numbers, about half of the training places are in nursing training (2,914 or 49%). Around one-quarter of places are in vocational medical training (1,409 or 24%). The remaining places (1,612 or 27% ) are spread across other health areas as set out in the table below.
